About the ride:
A reminder that this is just a gentle meander through the Florida countryside. Paved and dirt roads. No trails.
Join us before they're all gone! We're losing dirt roads in Central Florida due to growth. Lake County decided to pave, or partially pave a few roads. We lost another 8 miles to a developer who purchased some low use county roads as well...
** Perfect for big bikes, little bikes, any bikes.
The small handful of you planning on running woods bikes like 500EXCs, it's still a nice ride, but mostly pavement, so your butt will get a bit sore!
Those of you on the street route, well, it's great for street bikes!
As I said, this is a meandering ride, lots of stops and POI's with photo ops.
In the morning you can hit the Yalaha Bakery (street route goes right past it, ADV has a GPS spur) There's an old cemetery, The Big Oil Can, lots of lake views, we run you past Baker's Factory where the likes of KTMs Supercross team trains for the SX season. You may see some flying in the air as you go by....
Let's see, we drop you off at the Lake Ridge Winery, stop in, take a tour, see whats happening. From there strap on your oxygen because you're going to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain with expansive views of Lake Apopka and just over there you can make out Disney and Orlando!, Sugarloaf is the highest point on the Florida peninsula at 312ft above sea level!
Then we'll drop you down on the shores of Lake Apopka and the Green Mountain Overlook, which is a shot walk to the observation tower, which give you a look at the tree canopy covering this area.
We'll end in the lakeside city of Mt Dora, where there are numerous restaurants, galleries, and just good place to unwind.
If you like British foods you may enjoy the Magical Meat Boutique For Mexican, try the Fiesta Grande Grill. Want a Cuban? Las Palmas or the Copacabana Cafe can set you up!
If you're looking for more traditional fare, head up to US441 for chain restaurants
Here, you're basically done, you can head back to your cars, trucks, trailers and head on out. We did provide you with a scenic route out of Mt Dora that takes you back to Seminole Powersports if you prefer.
Now On To The Info!
You will be navigating yourself. There is no "group leader" or "Harley parade" type thing happening. Join up with others.
*** Be respectful to the club members who have worked to put this together. Please do not share these routes on the internet. ***
GPS routes:
The GPS file contains both the ADV and Street route. ...are in Garmin .gdb or .gpx files Each route is under 600 points When downloading into your GPS or phone app, if a truncated warning displays only parts of the route downloaded.
Roll Charts
Are turn to turn directions based upon your odometer reading. At the end of each section you roll your odometer back to 0.0 Roll charts are notoriously close but not accurate, you will need to look for street signs or other prompts close to the mileage point. Each bike tracks differently, each odometer has variances, and a wrong turn changes your mileage. Print it out, cut and past.
